Though xy, YSL, Gucci seems averse to bloggers and the new media reporting pace, we still love him! When Ford presented the debut of his eponymous womenswear collection this past September he kept it private and intimate with only 100 people in attendance and his famous friends serving as models. There were no photographers allowed, aside from Terry Richardson who was shooting it all for Ford's new website, and most of the details on the collection were embargoed until now.
The December issue of Voguemarks the first sneak peek at Ford's designs and in the six years since he left Gucci, it seems he's grown up quite a bit. Though looks are reminiscent of his YSL days with smoking tuxedos, animal print ensembles, and fringed frocks, Ford's aesthetic has certainty evolved. "The seventies is what I love. Soft, touchable beauty is what I love," explained Ford to Vogue's Sarah Mower.
While we expect to see Ford's designs on the red carpet come awards season, he claims that's not his priority this time around. "I'll wait to see who's nominated for the Oscars. Then I will offer to dress one person," he said. Now we'll just have to anticipate who that lucky actress might be!
