America’s oldest fashion brand, Brooks Brothers, has a new creative director of womenswear: Zac Posen.
“I am truly honored and excited to be embarking on this incredible opportunity to take the Brooks Brothers women’s brand into the future while respecting its deep, rich American heritage as an institutional company,” Posen said of his new role.
"We are thrilled to have Zac join us as creative director of our women’s collection,” said Claudio Del Vecchio, chairman and CEO of Brooks Brothers. As soon as we met, it was clear to us that he had a true understanding of our brand and its storied 196 year heritage as well as the creativity to modernize our offerings within the category.”
“We want to better ourselves and have another point of view,” Del Vecchio added. Posen is behind some of the most gorgeous ball gowns we've ever laid eyes on, and we're hoping he'll bring some of that glamorous aesthetic to Brooks Brothers.
In addition to designing for David's Bridal and helping to find the next big fashion designer on Lifetime's Project Runway, Posen has his own eponymous label--a favorite of Lena Dunham, Glenn Close and Cameron Diaz. Perhaps we'll soon see one of those ladies in Brooks Brothers?
His debut collection for the label will be for Spring/Summer 2016.
