Eli Schmidt for Oprah's Favorite Things 2019/O, The Oprah Magazine
It’s not the holiday season until Oprah drops her Favorite Things list. The media legend has been pumping out a roundup of her most-loved products since the 1990s, when it became a segment on her daytime television show. The Oprah Winfrey Show is no more (still sad about that, tbh), but the list lives on each year as the holidays approach.
Fans, rejoice: Oprah’s Favorite Things of 2019 list is officially here, and it certainly doesn’t disappoint. Among the goodies are self-indulgent beauty items (including products from Lady Gaga’s new beauty brand), luxurious loungewear, gourmet snacks, and snazzy tech gadgets. Of course, there’s plenty of gifting inspo to be found, but we encourage you to indulge in a #treatyourself moment. There’s plenty to go around! (Especially with Oprah’s 20 percent discount code.)
Scroll on for some of the most self-indulgent items from Oprah’s Favorite Things 2019 list, read what she has to say about them, and shop the products on Amazon.
After a busy year, we can all use a little pamper time. This spa set from Footnanny has hemp added (a request from Oprah herself) for soothing relief – the perfect way to unwind. “The ingredient excels in this set’s cream, scrub, and salve, which provide targeted pain relief and relaxation,” Oprah says. “Plus, they’re elegantly scented, so they won’t leave you smelling like Willie Nelson’s dressing room.”
Candles are pretty much the easiest way to indulge in self-care and set the mood for a cozy night in. “If you can’t visit an ash or cedar forest or a lush patch of basil, bring those intoxicating scents inside in the form of posh hand-poured candles,” Oprah says of these gorgeously minimal candles. “Warning: May cause guests to linger deep into the night.”
We’ll be living in this until further notice, thank you. “Wear the ridiculously plush lounger over leggings for running around town or hanging out at home. A black-tie dinner, though, may be a bridge too far,” Oprah jokes.
Gifting yourself this cheese board is also a gift to whomever visits your house. This “artisanal selection of cheeses, cured meats, dried fruits, and small-batch condiments,” also comes with decorative branches and and oak serving platter, so you’re sure to impress the heck out of your holiday guests. Or, grab your favorite bottle of wine and enjoy it yourself to ease holiday stress.
According to Oprah, Michelle Obama’s memoir should be required reading, and we couldn’t agree more. A supplement to the former First Lady’s bestselling book, this journal offers prompts to inspire readers to reflect as they read, she says.
“I believe in truth, justice, and a great nude lip,” Oprah says of this kit, and we could not agree more. “This set of four creamy shades ensures that whatever your look or mood, you’ll have a chic shade of lipstick to suit it.”
Who says you can’t buy yourself jewelry? “These sparkly rings (which make perfect travel jewelry) look so much like the real deal, you’d never know they’re only $48. At that price, why not wear a stack?” Oprah says of these glittering beauties.
Luxurious and practical! “This backpack with built-in clutch can be worn in five ways, including as a crossbody and a tote,” says Oprah. “Sarah Jessica Parker herself showed me how much she can fit inside, and even Mary Poppins would be impressed.”
Everyone needs a good pair of warm slippers for the winter. These are only $20, and they look like just about the softest things we’ve ever seen. Shoutout to Oprah for this incredible tip: “Pop ’em in the microwave for 60 seconds (seriously), and you’ll have warm, happy feet for up to an hour!”
Okay, this item is definitely a splurge, but you deserve it! Oprah said it, not us. “Wondering whether to get the new titanium Apple Watch? Here’s the answer: You must!” she says. “This updated model is like a personal health coach, offering reminders to stand up and move when you’ve been inactive, tracking your heart rate, and even analyzing ambient noise to let you know when decibel levels can affect your hearing. If these babies could just hold a tongue depressor, doctors might become obsolete.”
Yes, pots specifically for baking brie are completely unnecessary, but isn’t that the point of this list? Also, they are so darn cute. “These seven-inch stoneware pots can travel straight from oven to table,” Oprah says. “Place a wheel of Brie inside, bake till bubbly, and voilà: You’ve got a gooey treat for friends (or, let’s be real, just you) to dig into.” She gets it.
If you’ve been waiting to get your hands on Lady Gaga’s makeup line Haus Laboratories, now is the time. “Makeup turns Stefani Germanotta into Lady Gaga, and her new liquid eyeshadow can transform you, too,” Oprah gushes. “Blendable and buildable, it works for a subtle daytime look or full-on nighttime glam.”
Oprah may be in her 60s, but that doesn’t mean she’s out of touch with the younger generations and their selfie habits. “This vanity mirror features five brightness levels and Bluetooth connectivity,” she says. It gives you the perfect lighting get glam and allows you to take selfies virtually hands-free, she adds.
These speakers are compact and cute, and come in a variety of adorable colors. Plus, they’re super lightweight – and waterproof! “These powerful Bluetooth speakers weigh only 8.6 ounces each and are waterproof, meaning they offer killer sound at the beach or pool (they can withstand being submerged for up to 30 minutes!)” says Oprah.
This gadget is nearly $900, but think of all the money you can save not buying $6 lattes every morning! Instead, make them yourself at home in this fancy espresso machine. “The all-in-one barista can grind beans, froth milk, and even brew java at a lower temp for iced coffee with zero wateriness,” Oprah says.
Another fully unnecessary item, but these match cloches will add a touch of elegance to your fireplace — or bedside or wherever! “Your fireplace doesn’t have to be located in a mahogany-paneled library to deserve a nearly foot-tall glass match cloche (complete with a striking strip on the side) in handsome colors like moss and smoke,” Oprah says.
