By JENNY WERTH
Speak Kindly To Yourself
Everyone has an inner critic, and it can leave us feeling unworthy. While sometimes it helps to recognize where we could improve, we need to be kind to ourselves as well.
Speak to yourself in a positive way full of self-affirming messages. Remind yourself that you are a unique and creative individual to be embraced, loved, and respected.
Celebrate Small Achievements
We can easily become hyper-focused on the little mistakes we make while disregarding, or even forgetting, about the kind, ambitious, victorious things we also do.
Be present in the moment, and be grateful for what you have in life. Relish in the things you’ve accomplished before you start making a list of everything else you have to master.
Practice Meditation
Practicing mindfulness and meditation teaches us how to allow ourselves to appreciate and trust life in the present moment. It can also help with anxiety or sleeplessness.
It can be hard to start a new practice, but remember that showing up is half the battle. Chances are, once you've given mindfulness a shot, you'll be glad you did.
Recognize There's Only One You
You had a 1 in 400 quadrillions chance of being born, so prioritize yourself. If you feel something is right for you and if it brings you joy, stay the course and do it.
If you treat yourself with healthy self-esteem, respect, and admiration, others will do the same. Plus, you'll learn how to treat others well if you know how to treat yourself.
Get Out And Exercise
You may be excellent at being kind to yourself mentally, but if you aren't fueling your body by practicing staying active, you will not be able to reap all the benefits.
Walking, running, hiking, dancing, practicing yoga, and swimming are all great ways to stay active. It is a form of physical self-love that also cultivates intellectual self-love.
