Botox Versus Dysport: What’s The Difference Between The Injectables?
By MARY WOJCICKI
Many products are known as “injectables” in the beauty world and are intended to treat fine lines and wrinkles. Two of these products, Botox and Dysport, are very similar, but they differ both in their formulations and what they are used to treat, so it’s important to know the difference to determine which injectable is best for you.
Technically, Botox is onabotulinumtoxinA, while Dysport is abobotulinumtoxinA; according to dermatologist Shlipi Khetarpal, this means that the two “have the same primary active ingredient, but a different protein allows Dysport to [...] spread more.” Dysport is also only meant to treat your forehead and between your eyebrows, while Botox
can treat other areas.
If you are looking for treatment to target your forehead area, your medical provider might be the one who decides between Botox and Dysport, as you may not be suited for Dysport if your wrinkles are not severe. Ultimately, you should discuss the pros and cons of both injectables with your doctor to decide which will give you the look you desire.
