Does Laser Hair Removal At Home Actually Work And Is It Safe?
By NOHA ABUHADRA
Hair removal can be a daunting self-care step, so it's understandable that many have made the jump to laser hair removal — a semi-permanent hair removal method that uses a laser to burn hair follicles and minimize hair growth. However, it is quite pricey, so many wonder if at-home laser removal devices actually work.
You have two types of at-home devices to choose from — true laser hair removal and intense pulsed light (IPL). At-home laser removal devices are expensive, costing $499 or more, but they will still save you money in the long run if you opt to use them in place of laser treatment at the clinic.
Unfortunately, they aren't as effective as professional machines used in clinics, they will take more time to show results, and they are just as painful as the real thing. However, the biggest downfall is that they don't work for everyone, and results can depend on your skin tone and hair thickness.
