Every Denim Wash Has Its Ideal Color Pairings - Here Are All The Palettes

The applied wash determines the particular shade of indigo in denim. Each wash pairs well with a specific color palette, which we've compiled into a convenient guide.
Dark
The rich darkness of dark-wash jeans gives a formal look that dazzles when paired with bright primary colors and jewel tones. A crisp white can offer a stark contrast as well.
Medium
Indigo denim can be worn with anything, but dark blues and all shades of green look particularly appealing. As medium wash has some fading, consider them casual.
Light
The casual, cool-blue shade of light-wash denim begs to contrast with warm hues of burgundy, wine, and chocolatey brown. Try pairing it with a dark, chunky sweater.
Distressed
When acid or stone wash is applied to denim, it creates an intentionally distressed appearance, but with acid, the fabric isn't physically worn the way stone-washed jeans are.
