Everything You Wanted To Know About Resveratrol
By BRIE SCHMIDT
Resveratrol, an antioxidant-like compound found in grapes, blueberries, cranberries, and peanuts, is used in skincare to slow aging and fight inflammation.
Dr. Elizabeth Geddes-Bruce, a board-certified dermatologist and dermatologic surgeon at Westlake Dermatology, exclusively spoke to Glam about the benefits of resveratrol.
Dr. Geddes-Bruce says resveratrol is used topically to combat skin damage and signs of aging, such as fine lines, wrinkles, and redness caused by UV light, pollution, and stress.
Eating foods rich in resveratrol and other antioxidants may boost the quality of your skin, but for the most potent effect, add a resveratrol-rich skincare formula.
The dermatologist says resveratrol is safe for all skin types and recommends pairing it with antioxidants like vitamins C and E, hyaluronic acid, and retinol.
Dr. Geddes-Bruce recommends Ordinary's Resveratrol 3% + Ferulic Acid 3% or SkinCeuticals' Resveratrol B E serum for refreshed and smoother skin.
