FYI, The Sun Isn't Going To Clear Up Your Acne - Here's Why
By Glam Staff
Many believe sunbathing will help clear acne; however, evidence supporting this idea is purely anecdotal, as no scientific data supports that claim.
Rather, there’s more evidence that proves the damage caused by sun exposure (including suntans) greatly outweighs any benefits it may provide to your skin’s health.
Excess sun exposure, “increases our risk of skin cancer and skin aging,” dermatologist Justine Kluk told Women’s Health. This includes skin cancers like melanoma.
Dermatologist Jennifer Chwalek also debunked the myth that a good “base tan” will help protect from sun damage and instead advised against tanning altogether.
