How To Integrate Tea Tree Oil Into Your Beauty Routine
By MARY WROBLEWSKI
Similar to other essential oils, tea tree oil comes from a plant extract. If you are looking for a gentle substance that removes makeup and unclogs pores, you may want to add tea tree oil to your skincare routine.
Tea tree oil is antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, antifungal, and antiviral; therefore, this oil can treat acne and soothe swelling and inflammation. Tea tree oil targets symptoms of psoriasis, eczema, dry skin, and itchiness, but before trying it out, consult with your healthcare provider to ensure it’s safe to use on your skin.
Tea tree oil should be diluted with a carrier oil, like coconut oil, because it is too strong and irritating on its own. Squeeze 12 drops of the carrier oil into a bowl with 2 drops of tea tree oil, stir the mixture, and apply with a cotton ball every other night. Before applying the oils, do a test on your palm to ensure you don’t have a reaction.
