Perfume layering, also known as fragrance cocktailing, is a technique where someone makes their own scent by applying multiple products at once. A signature scent is a great way to attract and allure others, but there are a few things to consider first.
Perfume layering isn’t limited to spritzing a few perfumes on top of one another, since you can add in body oils, lotions, creams, and any smell that makes you feel happy and confident. As a general rule, you want to start by layering scents that are in or close to the same scent family.
If you choose to use oils or lotions, start the first layer with creams, then oils, and the fragrance perfume last. You’ll want to start your perfume layer with a strong base, then choose a second scent that complements the first, and finally, the top scent should be the lightest and freshest scent.
