How To Pull Off A Matching Plaid Set Without Feeling Overwhelmed
By SARAH VULPIO
Bold Handbag
Getting the perfect plaid outfit requires accessories, specifically handbags. A bold bag adds another focal point to the outfit and it can take a little attention away from the whole set so it’s not too overwhelming to look at.
Add A Blouse
Plaid sets can work in a professional setting too because it all comes down to how you style it. A blazer-skirt or blazer-pant combo paired with a flowy white or neutral blouse is perfect for work attire and it’s always nice to look chic at work.
Button-Up and Loafers
If you want to add a prep school look, find a plaid pant and cami set, and add a button-up underneath. To complete the look, add a pair of platform loafers that match your color scheme because nothing says academia like chunky loafers.
Neutral
The easiest way to prevent any matching set from being too overwhelming is by keeping the rest of the look neutral. The color you choose will depend on the main colors in the set, so if black is a prominent color, opt for a black top and shoes.
The Shoes
With the right pair of shoes, you can totally pull off the plaid pattern. To elongate your legs, try pairing high-knee boots with a skirt set, and pointed stiletto pumps with a pant and blazer set; the shoes play a huge role in bringing out the best of the outfit.
