If You Have An Oily T-Zone, Take These Steps To Keep Your Skin In Check
By JELENA ASKA
Add Niacinamide
Niacinamide is a skincare ingredient that can help with oiliness by reducing acne, keeping the skin’s barrier intact, and targeting pores and blackheads. It is also suitable for sensitive skin, so the chances of it breaking you out or causing irritation are very low.
Moisturize Your Skin
No matter what skin type you have, applying moisturizer in the mornings and evenings is a must. If you have an oily T-zone, you can apply a lightweight mattifying moisturizer to only that area while using a heavier moisturizer on the rest of your face.
Use Light Products
Generally, the best skincare products to use on oily skin are lightweight and oil-free products marketed for oily skin, especially if you get shiny throughout the day. Products with clay and charcoal, which absorb oil naturally, are great options.
Add Salicylic Acid
While salicylic acid is best known as an ingredient for acne-prone skin, it can also fight oily skin by breaking down excess oil. However, we recommend you only use a salicylic acid serum on your T-zone a few times a week since it is a chemical exfoliant.
Use Mattifying Primer
"Mattifying primers help control oil throughout the day, but they're also amazing for minimizing the appearance of texture in the skin," says professional makeup artist Jonet Williamson. A little goes a long way, so even if you’re wearing foundation with the primer, don’t go overboard.
