Piercing your ears used to be a simple task of just getting it done on a whim, but piercing guns aren’t the most sterile method. Getting pierced professionally with a needle would be the recommended route, but you can obtain piercing guns online and do them yourself, however, there are things you need to know.
If you don’t have the funds for piercing services or you simply feel up to doing it yourself, it’s still recommended to go to a professional piercer. It might be more affordable and easier to buy a piercing gun, but it is not the safest option.
The Association of Professional Piercers says that piercing guns are never appropriate for personal use and can be dangerous. You don’t know if the instrument was properly sterilized and you are at risk of infection if that is the case.
