Life-Path Numbers: What They Mean
And How To Calculate Them
By YVONNE GLASGOW
Life-Path Number
One of the numbers used in numerology is the life-path number, which adds together your day, month, and year of birth to determine your destiny. According to astrologer Erin River Sunday, “The life path number is one of the most regarded in numerology because it’s meant to reflect the individual’s purpose on Earth.”
Calculating Your Number
The traditional way to calculate your life-path number is to add up every digit in your birth date. For example, if you were born on 11/19/1974, you would add 1+1+1+9+1+9+7+4. If you’re still at a double-digit number, add your two numbers together again — unless your number is 11, 22, or 33.
The Master Numbers
11, 22, and 33 are the master numbers, and they have a place in the story of creation. If you’re an 11, it means you’re a visionary, a 22 is a planner or creator, and a 33 is the sharer or messenger of what has been created. However, even if you don’t have a master number, the universe could still have big plans for you.
Life-Path Number 1
If you are a one, you are a leader who enjoys independence. Some numerologists see ones as father figures — strong, helpful mentors to those who follow them. However, your do-it-yourself attitude can sometimes get you into trouble, so it's important for ones to know that they can ask for help.
Life-Path Number 2
Number two is the number of patience, and twos are considered the mothers or peacemakers. Twos should remember that it’s important to practice self-care, and unfortunately, being such a caring person can open up the possibility of being taken advantage of, which can lead to trust issues.
