Negative Ways Texting Can Impact Your Relationship
By SARAH VULPIO
It Looks Clingy
It’s normal to check on your partner throughout the day, but there is a limit to how many texts you should be sending. Neediness in a relationship is a toxic trait and you don’t want to come off as a stage 5 clinger.
Too Much Sexting
Sending spicy messages and photos to your partner might be fun, but there is such a thing as too much sexting. By spending too much time sending and receiving X-rated messages, you can lose focus on what it means to be in love with someone.
Arguing
It’s never a good idea to argue over text because it’s hard to discern one another’s tone. When arguing, your partner might misconstrue your meaning and think you’re being sarcastic, so in a situation like this, sit down with your partner and talk about it in person.
Annoyance
Long text messages can be very annoying because they look like stories and are too long to read. In a case like this, a phone call might actually be the best option, so you can say what you wanted to text instead and this will do wonders for your relationship.
Time Together
This one doesn’t have to do with texting, but it’s mostly about spending too much time on your phone when you’re with your partner. If you put your phones away, you'll realize how much more present and connected you feel in your relationship.
