Romantic Attraction Vs. Sexual Attraction: What's The Difference?
By SARAH VULPIO
Sometimes, an instant attraction towards a person you’ve just met can make you wonder whether you’re attracted to them romantically or sexually. Differentiating between the two feelings, however, can help you figure out what you actually want from this person — a lifelong bond or a night of fun.
When you’re unsure about feeling romantically attracted to someone, ask yourself if you want to get to know them on a deeper level. Wanting to consistently spend time with that person, to know their likes and dislikes, and to know who they are as a person is a clear sign that your attraction is more than physical.
On the other hand, if you have no interest in taking the time to get to know someone, chances are you're only into them for the hookup. Feeling a certain type of way in your nether regions when you see or think about them, as well as having high sexual tension between the two of you, are signs of sexual attraction.
Sexual attraction feels similar to having a crush — it's instantaneous — whereas romantic attraction takes longer to develop, states Healthline. As you spend more time with a person, though, it’s absolutely okay if your feelings change; just be sure to communicate with them to avoid any mixed signals or hurt feelings.
