Tips For Infusing More Color Into Your Wardrobe
By JOSEE NG
Opt For Your Favorites
If you are unsure how to infuse more colors into your style, start with the shades you are drawn to. Also, keep your skin tone in mind: for instance, navy blue, olive, and golden brown flatter those with warm skin undertones, while those with cool undertones look great in brighter hues.
Color-Blocking Is Key
College Fashion defines color-blocking as a technique used to create contrast in an outfit by wearing colors opposite each other on the color wheel, such as yellow and violet or orange and blue. You can also combine colors that sit next to each other on the wheel, like red and purple.
Combine Pastels
Pastel colors are very versatile since they don’t belong to a specific color family, so you can pair them all together harmoniously. You can combine pastel hues based on the color-blocking principles, mix different shades, or even pair them with primary colors for a more striking look.
Go Monochromatic
Monochrome fashion isn’t just about wearing one color from head to toe — you can also don different shades of the same color for a more varied look (and don’t be afraid to play with textures!). Aside from making you look stylish, monochrome looks create a taller and slimmer silhouette.
Add a Splash of White
You can never go wrong with adding a neutral color to a vibrant hue for a more balanced outfit. When you’re not sure if two vibrant colors clash with each other, ditch one for white since it will help calm down the look and even add an exquisite touch to an otherwise overpowering outfit.
