Tips To Help You Reignite The Spark In Your Long-Term Relationship
By AMANDA CHATEL
Try Something New
If you’ve been in a relationship for a long time then you might have fallen into a pattern where every day is the same routine. To reignite the spark, try a new hobby or activity, especially if it is something thrilling that will cause an adrenaline rush.
Talk About It
Communicating with your partner is important in any relationship. If one of you sees a situation in one way and the other in another way, then it’s paramount that you hash it out and come up with a solution together.
Displays of Gratitude
Longevity can make it easy to take our partner for granted, so bring back small romantic gestures and practice gratitude — not just occasionally, but on a daily basis. According to licensed marriage therapist Gary Brown, saying "thank you" more often isn’t enough, you have to show it.
Sexually Adventurous
Exploring new things in the bedroom can help you reconnect with your partner. Talk to your partner about what they've been sexually interested in trying, share what's been meandering around in your head, and go for it.
Back to the Beginning
Before your long relationship, you met and fell in love with your partner, so it would be a good idea to go back to the beginning. Remember why you fell in love, go out together, try going to a place you went to at the start of your relationship and see why you’ve lasted so long.
