Warning Signs On Your Face You Shouldn't Ignore
By ROBIN ZABIEGALSKI
Acne
Acne can be a sign of a hormonal shift and could be a symptom of polycystic ovarian syndrome. Hormones aren’t always to blame, however, as acne can also indicate an allergic reaction, an adverse reaction to a medication, or a diet high in sugar.
Dark Under-Eye Circles
Dark circles are most commonly attributed to lack of sleep, but they can also be a secondary effect of rubbing your eyes due to allergies. They are also caused by smoking, drinking too much alcohol, and anemia.
Dry, Flaky Skin
If all the moisturizer in the world isn't hydrating your face, it could be a sign of a skin condition like eczema, psoriasis, or dermatitis. Dehydration can cause dry and flaky skin, as well as more serious conditions like kidney diseases, diabetes, and hypothyroidism.
Chapped Lips
If lip balm isn’t curing your chapped lips this could be a sign that they could be irritated by prolonged exposure to hot or cold weather or an allergy to a beauty product, food, or drink. They could also be caused by a bacterial, viral, or fungal infection.
New Or Changing Moles
In general, moles are harmless, but new moles, or if a mole you've had forever starts to change, can indicate a problem. Meet with a dermatologist immediately if any of your moles are asymmetrical, bigger than a pencil eraser, or have irregular edges as these all can be signs of skin cancer.
