What's The Difference Between Body Oil And Lotion?
By LILY RAINE
There are countless products stating that they’ll make your skin soft, luscious, and hydrated. As a result, there has been an ongoing debate over whether to use body oil or lotion because both products promise to leave the skin supple and moisturized.
The biggest difference between body oil and lotion is that body oil is thicker, whereas lotion is thinner and seeps into the skin more quickly. Lotion also hydrates your skin better as it absorbs into the skin, whereas oils only soften the top layer and don’t penetrate the skin.
Everyone’s skin is different, so there’s no one-size-fits-all solution, but to keep your skin soft and moisturized on a daily basis, apply lotion immediately after showering. Those with normal-to-dry skin should use a lotion first, then a body oil to lock in the moisture, per Southern Living.
