What's The TikTok Makeup Trend Underpainting All About?
By HANNAH DARLING FENN
It can be tricky to attain a softly sculpted, natural look, especially considering that traditional contouring leaves little margin for error. A new trend has popped up on TikTok called underpainting, a technique with which you apply concealer, blush, contour, and highlighter underneath your foundation.
Once your skin has been cleansed, toned, and moisturized, you’ll apply your blush, concealer, and highlighter, as you typically would, with a gentle patting motion. After that, lightly apply a lesser amount of foundation than you normally would to seamlessly blend the entire look.
As underpainting is all about reverse layering, mixing liquid and powder products just won't cut it for that flawlessly blended glow. You'll want to go for a cream blush and make sure the liquid foundation you top it all with isn't too thick.
