Why You Shouldn't Be Afraid To Take A Mental Health Day
By ANJANA RAJBHANDARY
COVID-19 has taken a huge toll on us, both physically and mentally. Mental illnesses should not be ignored, because not only does one in five American adults have one, but ignoring the signs can worsen the situation.
It’s okay to need a mental health day, and Healthline says you should never “feel guilty” for needing a day off. When you feel overwhelmed, taking a mental health day can help “clear your mind, improve your sleep quality, process your emotions, promote relaxation, and reduce stress,” according to Verywell Mind.
When life becomes overbearing and you feel like you can’t take it anymore, just step back and put yourself first. Self recommends taking a mental health day as “a regular tune-up – not damage control,” so take this time to heal and do what you need to do.
