Adele is going through a transformation. Fans were taken aback after seeing photos of the singer looking drastically thinner at Drake’s birthday celebration last week. And now, we’re learning the details of the hit maker’s intense new workout routine.
Last week, Adele shared an Instagram photo of herself at Drake’s bash, rocking a sleek off-the-shoulder dress, high ponytail, and her signature winged eyeliner. Though she has always looked amazing, the outfit showed off her incredible new figure. “I used to cry but now I sweat 😂 #gingermckenna,” the 31-year-old singer wrote in the caption, perhaps referencing her recent divorce from Simon Konecki.
Though the photo only shows the singer’s face and shoulder, it’s clear she’s lost some weight, and other photos that have surfaced from the event really reveal her transformation.
A source tells PEOPLE that Adele’s regimen includes regular sessions with a trainer as well as at-home workout videos, pilates, and StairMaster classes at Rise Nation, a favorite spot for celebrities.The source also says she’s been “incredibly dedicated” to her new lifestyle, though she was skeptical about it at first.
“She was very hesitant about keeping a workout routine,” the source said. “It was like she was questioning if she was gonna enjoy it enough to stick with it. But she has been incredibly dedicated. She continues to work out with a trainer. And she looks fantastic.”
The Sun also reported that Adele overhauled her diet, giving up sugary drink and following the anti-inflammatory Sirtfood diet.
But for the singer, the transformation is about much more than her physical appearance. “It’s not about losing weight,” a source previously told PEOPLE. “She wants to stay healthy for her son’s sake, and though it’s been challenging for her to keep a new workout routine, she is sticking with it.” Another source added that she has “taken a more serious interest in improving herself and is actually having a great time.”
Adele has always been focused on happiness and was previously quoted saying “I think no matter what you look like, the key is to first of all be happy with yourself. And then you know if you want to try to improve things that you don’t like about yourself, then do it after you appreciate yourself.”
From what we can tell, Adele is taking a healthy approach to weight loss and is certainly enjoying her social life as well. Last week, the star was also seen attending her friend Jennifer Lawrence’s wedding and was later spotted having dinner and drinks with friends at Nobu in Malibu. Cheers to health and happiness!
