Chrissy Teigen Says She Is Coming To Terms With Her ‘New Normal’ Weight
Chrissy Teigen is about as real as it gets on social media. When she’s not showing off her cooking or clapback skills, the multihyphenate star is sharing details of her private life as a wife and mom of two. While a lot of it looks glamorous, Teigen has been wonderfully outspoken about the realities of parenting. From postpartum depression to stretch marks to messy mornings, she shares it all – even when it’s not necessarily Instagram-worthy.
Over the weekend, Teigen started a Twitter thread in which she got super honest about her post-pregnancy body. “How do you eat like this?” she asked herself before sharing her struggle with weight loss.
“Basically I am 20 pounds heavier than I was before Miles,” she continued. “He's 10 months old, I never lost the last bit because I just love food too much. Just coming to terms with my new normal, when I had this certain number for so long!”
Teigen goes onto explain that she was at her thinnest after having her first child, Luna, but admits that it was due to postpartum depression. “I'LL TAKE THESE POUNDS AND THIS FEELING!” she says.
The 33-year-old mother, who shares daughter Luna, 2, and son Miles, 7 months, with husband John Legend, has previously opened up about suffering from postpartum depression, something that affects around 1 in 7 women who give birth.
“It’s all about trying to be happy with myself. Because I’m not blind: I see my body, I see the difference in shape, I see that I gained weight. But I also see with those same eyes that I have a beautiful baby boy, and this little girl that’s relentless and amazing, and I am very happy,” she told Good Housekeeping. “This is a new thing that I can change within my mind, that I don’t have to be a swimsuit model anymore. I get to be a mommy, and I get to cook, and I get to meet incredible people, and I’m happy to be going through this transition.”
When a fan responded to her Tweet this weekend with a “No regrets” meme, Teigen responded: “NONE.”
