In honor of Breastfeeding Awareness Month, Gisele Bündchen made a personal post about her experience breastfeeding her children. The 39-year-old supermodel shared a throwback photo of herself breastfeeding her now six-year-old daughter Vivian, but also opened up about some of the harsh realities that come along with it.

"One of the most special moments I’ve shared with my kids was while breastfeeding," Bündchen writes in her caption, "That special look you get, that feeling of connection is unlike anything I have ever experienced."

But, as any mother knows, breastfeeding is not all warm and fuzzies. "Yes, in the beginning it can be difficult," she continues. "It can hurt (the cracks, bleeding, engorgement), but no matter how challenging, I would not change that experience for anything in this world. I feel blessed that I was able to nourish them in this way."

This isn't the first time Bündchen has spoken publicly about her breastfeeding experience. In 2018, she opened up to People about how breastfeeding both of her children for more than 18 months changed the shape of her breasts, and the insecurities that caused her to have, especially given her career. "I felt very vulnerable, because I can work out, I can eat healthy, but I can't change the fact that both of my kids enjoyed the left boob more than the right," she told the publication. But looking back, Bündchen has no regrets. The model ends her recent post with an encouraging message to all mothers, regardless if they breastfeed or not: "Congratulations to all mamas out there for the effort that we put in, the ones who breastfeed, and those who could not and have had heartbreaking moments trying to. I celebrate all of you!"

Bündchen's husband, NFL star Tom Brady, showed his support by commenting a series of heart emojis on his wife's post, which has nearly 568,000 likes. Thousands of other mothers have also shared their experiences in honor of Breastfeeding Awareness Month; the hashtag currently has over 11,000 posts on Instagram.

"Feeling so blessed with the ability to breastfeed this little milk drunk monkey, and obsessed with the way our bodies are so in sync with each other’s," ⁣influencer Kathryn Miranda Yates writes on her Instagram post.

Whatever your baby's feeding story may be, it's valid and beautiful. Props to all of he women sharing such personal stories.
