Need motivation to get to the gym? Look no further than Halle Berry.
As part of her Fitness Friday series on Instagram Stories, Berry recently shared the core moves she’s been doing in preparation for a new film, and we’re seriously sore from watching. “Effective core workouts? We got ‘em. Check out the exercises @peterleethomas & I are currently doing as I train for my next film,” she wrote before beginning a combination of hardcore ab exercises with celebrity trainer Peter Lee Thomas. No crunches in sight, the nine exercises range from bear planks to knee tucks to hanging bicycles, strengthening the obliques, transverse abdominis, and rectus abdominis all at once.
With a career spanning more than two decades, the 52-year-old actress is well-known for her roles in action-packed movies like the X-Men franchise, Catwoman, and James Bond, and she shows no signs of slowing down. She just finished filming John Wick 3: Parabellum, in which she plays an assassin, and according to The Hollywood Reporter, Berry is set to direct and star in the upcoming drama Bruised, about disgraced MMA fighter, Jackie “Justice.” Hence why it’s important for her to stay fighting fit – she constantly has to look like she can dish out some serious damage.
“I had no idea what her age was when I met her. I never looked or was interested in that and when I found out I was absolutely shell-shocked because she has the discipline and athleticism of a 25-year old,” Thomas recently told People. The Hollywood trainer has been working with Berry for about two years now and likes to challenge her with a combination of techniques, including martial arts and boxing, and high intensity intervals (which he compares to military training).
