This Trainer Is Going Viral For His Creative Couch Workouts On Tiktok

Since the Covid-19 outbreak began, the demand for online fitness has surged. The change has inspired creativity for fitness enthusiasts, with studios now offering streaming services or classes via video conference. Some trainers have even taken their skills to social media, with IGTV series and live streaming events. One such trainer is Justin Agustin, who is going viral for his couch workouts on Tiktok.

As a certified physical therapist and personal trainer based in Canada, Agustin offers fitness tips, stretching suggestions, and workout routines for all levels. But as PopSugar first pointed out, people are really loving his no-equipment-necessary workouts for beginners. Why? Because the simple moves can all be done from the couch while binge-watching your favorite show or scrolling through, well, Tiktok.

Each video features a series of low-impact exercises that can be done while sitting on the couch or standing nearby, often utilizing it in some way. Maxing out at 15 seconds, the videos are easy to follow and the moves easy to remember. Think modified crunches, push-ups, leg lifts, squats, and more. Each video will inspire you to work a variety of muscle groups, including your arms, core, shoulders, and legs—and all you need are some pillows, a towel, and in some cases, a coffee table book.

“I started at home, then took it to the gym. It all depends on your goals, but home workouts are effective to stay fit,” Agustin explains in the caption of one video. And given that most gym are still closed due to the coronavirus pandemic, he’s all about coming up with creative ways to stay active at home. His Tiktok is full of fun motivation. 

In one video, for example, he suggests writing exercises on Post-It notes and sticking them to places you frequent throughout the day, like the fridge, closet or laundry room. “Every time you hit those locations, you have to do exactly what the notes says,” he explains. “I know it may sound silly to some, but it's actually how I learned to do pull-ups.” He went on to explain that he placed a pull-up bar on his bedroom door frame and would do one pull-up every time he passed.
