These Mommy Bloggers Talking About Swimsuits Is Hilariously Relatable
Ever slip into a swimsuit and think to yourself, “What the actual f*ck?” The problem with swimsuits these days is that they’re getting incredibly “sexy” and less functional, which works if you’re a Sports Illustrated model. But remember, their original purpose was, in fact, to function as a piece of clothing designed for swimming. Now, they come in silhouettes that do little to cover your front parts — and you can completely forget about your back parts.
This is exactly what Kristin Hensley and Jen Smedley, the funny women behind IMomSoHard, are highlighting in a now-viral video titled “I Swimsuit Season So Hard.” They start by reveling over how much fabric male swimsuit’s have, demonstrating how easy it is to bend down without being super indecent, before pointing out all the problems with those designed for women.
“I do not feel confident in a swimming suit at all,” says Hensley, adding that her self-confidence does change after a couple of cocktails. Honestly, who can’t relate to that? “Nothing is going to make you feel worse about your body than the swimsuits that they make,” adds Smedley before the duo changes into super-strappy one pieces and monokinis.
Some fun soundbites that follow: “This gives me four complete butt cheeks” and “I put my legs though these holes three times – it hurt my ‘gina.”
In all seriousness, though, the video is meant to shed light on unrealistic body expectations and how harmful they can be to a girl’s confidence. “I want my daughter to love her life and to love herself,” Hensley says. “And she’s not going to do it because I tell her to do it, she’s going to do it because I teach her to do it.”
