There are a few shows worth a long wait. And the one we anticipate most is HBO's Big Love. This action-packed drama draws us into the world of a unique polygamist family in Salt Lake City.
Big Love tells the story of businessman Bill Henrickson, who balances the needs of his three wives—Barb, Nicki, and Margene—their nine kids and three houses, and his own entrepreneurial and political ambitions. Bill Paxton, Jeanne Tripplehorn, Chloë Sevigny, and Ginnifer Goodwin star in the series, which is in its fifth and final season.
The final 10 episodes of the iconic drama will tell the concluding story of Bill, the newly elected state senator, who is trying to move forward after his shocking election-night announcement that he and his family are polygamists. But instead of being embraced for their honesty and accepted by their constituents, the family encounters a wave of hostility from neighbors, employees, casino partners, students at their kids' schools, and even fellow polygamists hoping to keep their lives private.
The Henricksons are accustomed to their fair share of ill will, but this time the attacks are personal. One thing is for sure—we'll be watching. The new season of Big Love premieres on Sunday, Jan. 16, at 9 p.m., with an instant encore at 10:05 p.m.
