The likes of Eva MendesKeira KnightleyWill Smith, and Reese Witherspoon have more in common than Tinseltown clout. All have appeared in magazines or on red carpets with the styling prowess of Negar Ali Kline backing their sartorial triumphs.

Kline packs 15 years of experience under her belt; her repertoire is peppered with credits in EsquireW, and ELLE; and she’s a purveyor of confidence thanks to a new partnership with Carefree.

In the thick of awards season—with the BAFTAs, Independent Spirits Awards, and Oscars approaching—Glam picked Kline’s brain on everything from red carpet fixes, to style icons, and her favorite red carpet moments in between.

Glam: What is the first thing you take into account when styling a celeb for the red carpet?

Kline: Naturally, I always take into consideration the client’s silhouette and what would be the most flattering cut and style of dress. I also think about the tone of the event. Is the red carpet for a fun fashion dinner, or a benefit, or an awards show that calls for a gown?

Glam: Do you have a different philosophy for styling women than you do men?

Kline: Not really. It’s always classic, well-tailored, chic looks.

Glam: What is your most memorable red carpet styling moment?

Kline: Most recently, Jessica Langewinning an Emmy in her J Mendel gown.

Glam: What’s the story behind your biggest red carpet emergency?

Kline: Well, there have been broken zippers, last-minute changes of heart about a dress, you name it! But, I am prepared and just flow with it.

Glam: What red carpet tip do you think people can incorporate into their everyday lives?

Kline: I suggest all women have a fashion emergency kit of their own. Which basically includes static guard, lint brush, topstick, and I like to include Carefree Acti-Fresh daily liners to help women feel their freshest and most-confident.

Glam: Who are your red carpet style icons and why?

Kline: Cate Blanchett just makes everything look regal, but I also really love someone like Alexa Chung for her effortless cool. Both women exude a natural confidence.

Glam: Which celeb has had the best style during awards season (so far!)?

Kline: I think Emma Stone is killing it! I loved her Lanvin jumpsuit at the Globes!

Glam: Do you have any Oscars red carpet predictions?

Kline: Julianne Moore will be stunning as always and it seems to be her year to win!
