Day in the Life: Indie Lee, Founder and CEO of Indie Lee Skincare

Publish date:

It took a new lease on life forIndie Lee to enter the beauty industry. After a a life-threatening brain tumor that stemmed from environmental toxins was vanquished, the skincare savant sought to bridge the gap between nature and beauty through her own eponymous line. Using the finest all-natural ingredients from around the world, Lee has made going green glamorous. Glam caught up with this truly fearless founder as she heads to Bay Area to meet with her newest retailers and sup on mussels and sushi -- all before hopping on a red-eye back to the East Coast.

5:30 a.m.

Wake up in San Francisco wishing I hadn’t cut caffeine from my diet... and that I had packed some almonds to snack on -- how is it only 5:30 a.m.? My internal clock is off from flying across the country yesterday. A little in-room stretching and Pilates helps to get my heart pumping. Then, I check a few emails (business never stops with retailers around the globe).

7:00 a.m.

Time to shower and blow out my hair for today’s video shoot. When traveling, I like to bring a little bit of home with me. I packed my favorite shampoo and conditioner from Briogeo, our Coconut Citrus Body Scrub and my skincare essentials (Squalane Facial OilCoQ-10 Toner, and Calendula Eye Balm). Once I finish my blow out, I pin it up in a top knot so it has volume later on.

10:00 a.m.

Arrive at one of our new retailers, Credo Beauty, for a video shoot. We talk about my personal health struggles and reasoning for starting the Indie Lee skincare line, as well as the natural beauty movement. I love companies like Credo, who share the message that you can be natural and be beautiful - it's true partnership.

12:00 p.m.

Lunch at Hog Island Oyster Co. and then sightseeing downtown and on the pier. It’s always important to take a second to enjoy the beauty around me, no matter how busy I might be.

3:00 p.m.

Meeting at Beautylish headquarters. They end up giving me tips on how to keep my email inbox at zero (when in Silicon Valley, right?), and I get to sit amongst the team to chat about all things beauty for hours. I’m always amazed at the following that Beautylish has cultivated and am thrilled to finalize the details for our next partnership together with founder Nils Johnson.

6:00 p.m.

Meet a close friend that I don’t get to see that much (since she lives in San Francisco) for sushi. I swear eating sushi on the west coast is ruining it for me back east! It’s just so delicious. Afterwards, I broke down and had the most amazing, fresh ice was life changing. I highly recommend making the trip to Smitten Ice Cream if you are in the SF area. You won’t regret it.

9:00 p.m.

Arrive at SFO for my flight back to NYC and head to the new AmEx Centurion Lounge immediately after checking in. Membership most definitely has its privileges. This place is unreal - they have wine tastings, a game room, and gourmet food constantly being prepared. I almost wish I didn’t have dinner. Here I catch up on all of the day’s happenings back at the office and wait to board my red eye flight back home to start the insanity all over again!
