INSPIRATION: Donna Karan’s “New York Mash Up” was inspired by the people who fill the city streets with unique perspective and personality. Merging old school with new school and chic with street, Karan’s DKNY urbanite is always daring and dreaming. To amplify her message, Karan used several “real people” to rock her looks—from artists and musicians, to hostesses, actresses, students and biologists, this season’s models made a statement all their own.
The collection included slick and sick, classic and cool, and several sexy moments in between, “because why commit to one expression when you can wear them all?”
TRENDS: Statement coats, faux fur, graphic houndstooth, textured lace, wool, and felt,, pops of color, leather, varsity jackets, sweats and sequins, and a punch of prep.
PALETTE: Black, thunder gray, electric pink, milk white, charcoal, and midnight.
WHO WAS THERE:Rita Ora, Mia Moretti, Victoria Justice, Zoey Deutch, and Zendaya Coleman
WHO SHOULD WEAR IT: Traditionalists and iconoclasts alike.
PLAYLIST: A list as varied as the characters who walked down the runway with songs like “Hey Ho, Lets Go!,” by the Ramones and “Blister in the Sun” by the Violet Femmes getting the crowd grooving.
