Donna Karan Puts her Heart on Display for “Fashion for Haiti”

Donna Karan showed just how big her heart was last Thursday night when she decorated one for Haiti. She, Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein, Nicole Miller and almost 150 other members of the Council of American Fashion Designers created mâché hearts to be auctioned off April 22 to May 2 for “Fashion for Haiti: One Million Hearts”—a collaboration with Urban Zen, the CFDA and eBay.

“I was blown away by the creativity,” Karan told Women's Wear Daily. “Each one is so unique. The only way I can [describe it] is a couture collection.” Sales from the pieces will benefit Urban Zen Foundation's work with Haitian artists, who created the hearts the designers were decorating. You can see the installation (or bid on a heart) at Urban Zen's New York location.

Karan is a longtime support of Haiti, creating a handmade bracelet in partnership with American Express during Fashion Week, photographing Adriana Lima in Haiti for the Spring 2012 campaign, and regularly putting focus into Urban Zen to benefit the country.
