Drew Barrymore Can Make Makeup Out of Almost Anything
As beauty buffs, we would like to think we could survive on just a few essentials, but we’ve got nothing on Drew Barrymore.
The creator, founder, and president of Flower Beauty sat down with a host of editors on Monday to talk about the brand’s 2014 launches. With 39 new products to play with, she was happy to swatch along with the rest of us but noted she would only need one item from her line if necessary. “We have a cream foundation stick, Skincognito, which I feel sick if I leave my house without it,” she said.
With her tenure in Hollywood as a base for her beauty know-how, she could easily concoct cosmetics on the fly. “If I had to go to 35th St. to do some makeup, I would find berries in a bodega and rub them on my cheeks and then run into a wine shop and ask if they have any leftover corks so I can burn the ends and make amazing kohl out of it. “ she said. If they told me I need to do a photo shoot, I would [tell them], ‘No problem. I’ve got this.’” The only beauty must she hasn’t finalized on her own? Concealer.
As for the newest Flower products (which are already rolling out to Walmart stores nationwide), she focused on multitaskers for makeup mavens and moms on the go, including the game changing Eye 2 Eye Marker and Volumizing Mascara, the Double Take Eye Marker & Crème Shadows, and the Kiss Me Twice Lip & Cheek Chubbies. But if she had to narrow her must-have list down to a few makeup musts, she would choose the new Perfect Canvas Crème Foundation or the Skincognito Stick, the Winsome, Rouge Some Crème Blush, The Velvet Tea Rose Kiss Stick, and the Zoom-In Ultimate Mascara. “I would recommend one of the cream blushes; they’re just these cute little compacts that are so pretty,” she explained. “It’s very creamy and comes in [other] beautiful colors. Then the Ultimate Mascara; no one at mass has it, and you can twist it and the whole brush spirals or elongates [with] both a lengthening and volumizing formula at once.“
