I've had a love/hate relationship with eyeglasses going all the way back to the first grade before they made frames kiddy sized. So when I heard about the new at-home eyeglass retailer, David Kind, I was more than intrigued.

Dave Barton has paired his 13 years of experience in luxury eyewear (at Oliver Peoples/Paul Smith Spectacles) with the talented stylist, Trish Quinn, who reviews your fit/style profile and hand-selects six frames to try on and select at home. According to Barton: “We employ expert eyewear stylists that guide you to the best frames based upon your feedback. This solves the current online shopping headaches around size and fit.”

The process begins by uploading your photo to create a style profile. The profile measures your complexion, hair color, face shape and width. You then go through some preselected frames and rate them so Quinn can get a better idea of your style preferences. And after a few more basic questions regarding your eyeglass history, all the decisions are placed in the hands of the experts–just how I like it!

Less than a week later a gorgeous cork box arrived containing six curated selections. A customized note explained each frame and the reasons why they were chosen, just for me. After much less debate than would normally happen when choosing amongst hundreds of frames, I chose a pair that was right for me. Thank you, David Kind for finally helping me get over my awkward associations with glasses, I can't wait to be totally geek-chic my new pair! –Michelle Kushner
