Get Daisy Buchanan’s Great Gatsby Bob
At long last, Baz Lurhmann’s much-anticipated blockbuster, The Great Gatsby, featuring Leonardo DiCaprio and Carey Mulligan is finally hitting theaters. His glittering version of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s classic will debut on Friday, following months upon months of anxious anticipation. In the spirit of the Jazz Age, we looked to The Drawing Room New York’s Clyde Elezi for ways to nail Daisy Buchanan’s bobbed look, regardless of length, with a touch of the era’s signature fingerwave style.
For Short Hair:
(For tresses that have a short graduation in the back that maintains length throughout the crown and front)
Section hair horizontally, starting at the nape of the neck, and curl the hair in the same direction with a ½-¾-inch curling iron. At the top of the head, curl up to the natural part. Finally use a flat, boar bristle paddle brush to brush out the curls and seal the style with a spritz of hairspray.
For Long Hair:
First, section the hair into two horizontal sections from ear to ear and pin the top out of the way. Braid the bottom section of the hair and pin it flat to the nape of the neck. Curl the top half of your hair as you would for the short hair and use bobby pins to secure the strands to the braid at the nape of the neck. Add a brightly printed scarf or headband for a flapper fashion statement.
