Get the Look: Adele’s ‘60s Hair and Neutral Nails at the Oscars
Adele is officially an Oscar winner for her hit song from the Bond franchise, “Skyfall,” but she didn’t let the glitz and glamor of Hollywood’s biggest night change her signature style as she stepped onto the red carpet in a beautifully beaded LBD by Jenny Packham. And true to classic beauty choices, she opted for a voluminous half-up do with a vintage flair care of hairstylist Michael Aston and a neutral manicure for her stiletto nails by Kimmie Kyees.
Aston started with towel-dried tresses minus any excess moisture before he worked in John Frieda’s new Luxurious Volume Fine to Full Blow-Out Spray from the mid-lengths to the ends. He flipped over her head and blow-dried the hair, blasting the hot air down the shaft for instant root lift and fullness throughout the rest of the hair. When her starnds were 80% dry, he flipped her head back over and smoothed large sections of the hair with a medium sized round brush with extra attention to the ends for bounce. Aston then sectioned the hair into quarters and applied a medium-large curling iron to each section for a feminine texture before setting that section in hot rollers. Once cooled, he carefully brushed through the hair with a natural bristle brush and doing the same with the other sections. After 5 to 10 minutes, he removed the sectioning clips and gently tousled the hair before pulling half of the hair back and teased the crown, securing pieces together in the back of the head. He left out two small section to frame her face and finished with a mist of the Luxurious Volume All-day Hold Hairspray.
