Getting Hat-y with Anna Piaggi and Stephen Jones
When Italian Vogue editor Anna Piaggi passed away last August, she left behind racks upon racks upon racks of clothing and accessories. Reportedly, 40 rolling racks that covered every wall of her Milan apartment, to be precise. When the fashion enthusiast died of a heart attack at 81, her brother inherited the overwhelming collection. We reported back in May that her collection was sitting in storage while her family determined the best place for the muse-to-many’s pieces.
But now we have very, very good news! Piaggi’s legendary hat collection, mostly custom works created by her friend and milliner, Stephen Jones, will go on display in Milan in September. The exhibit will be curated by Jones and will “guide the visitor through the late editor’s life one hat at a time—from a McDonald’s baseball cap, to a Chanel haute couture design,” according to Vogue UK.
Hats off to Mr. Jones for sharing her Piaggi’s hat collection with the rest of the world.
