Golden Globes 2014: Lupita Nyong’o’s Modern Close Crop and Ladylike Mani

This fashion newcomer had us anticipating a Golden Globes red carpet home run, and she definitely knocked it out of the park! Lupita Nyong'o radiated in a sleek Ralph Lauren gown, Fred Leighton jewels, and a refined beauty look. Her close-cropped coif, styled by Larry Sims and iridescent manicure complemented the clean lines of her gown.

For the hair:

Sims began styling Nyong'o's look by applying Smooth ‘N Shine Go Pro Curls Curl-Licious Mist to refresh and reactivate her natural curls. Next, he used a rat-tail comb to insert a dramatic deep side part on the right side of her head. He then took the part back to the crown of Lupita’s head and combed her hair to each side. Once the part was in place, Sims used Smooth ‘N Shine Go Pro Curls Butter Bouncin’ to hydrate the actress’ hair and give it an easy, moldable texture. Lastly, he sprayed Got2b 2Sexy Voluptuous Volume Hairspray to finish and hold the style in place.

For the mani:

For an understated and sophisticated manicure, the young actress called on Deborah Lippmann to work her mani magic. First, Lippmann exfoliated hands with Deborah Lippmann Cuticle Remover and then rehydrated her nail beds with Cuticle Oil. She then applied Rich Girl SPF 25 Hand Cream, The Cure ultra-nourishing cuticle lotion and Cuticle Oil over the entire hand. For the color, Deborah applied a layer of Gel Lab Base Coat and then applied one coat of Naked. She used Diamonds and Pearls as the second coat to leave an iridescent finish. Deborah finished the look with a swipe of Gel Lab Top Coat.
