When feminist site, Jezebel, offered a bounty  for untouched photos from Lena Dunham’s February Voguecover story, the creator of HBO’s Girlskept a cool head. She acknowledged the melee with a Tweet, “Some [stuff] is too ridiculous to engage,” she wrote.

Dunham dug a little further into her feelings during an hour-long podcast with Grantland’sBill Simmons. “That was so messed up,” she said before going on to say that she doesn’t read the site anymore. “I think Jezebel can be really smart and funny. I think it’s just like, once you’ve been attacked in that way, it’s hard to enjoy, once you feel like they’ve made such a monumental error in their approach to feminism. I just can’t be half-in… It felt gross.”

Dunham admitted that she was “kind of scared” to see her untouched spread. “I was like, maybe I’m delusional and I don’t look how I think I look,” she said. Though, ended up feeling validated with the results. “It was the most minimal retouching. I felt completely respected by Vogue. Thank you for removing the one line from my face because I’m 27 years old and shouldn’t have that there and I appreciate this.”

Further proof that she may be the voice of a generation. Or at least a voice. Well done, Lena.
