Maison Martin Margiela’s Undersized Sofa
Maison Martin Margiela is known for injecting haute humor into the design world with a modern and quirky aesthetic. The brand has been participating in Milan's Salone del Mobile since 2009 and this year the Maison revealed ‘géométries variables’ by furniture designer Cerruti Baleri. The installation is based around the notion of pretense with black and white tromp l'oeil on backlit panels and projected shadows playing with proportions; it is contained within a living room and features all 13 pieces from the line.
The vignette also includes two new pieces of furniture–the 'Undersized' is an ultra-compact black leather sofa that seats two or three people and the 'Sbilenco' is an unstable table that comes as a coffee-table, a side-table, and a console in black ash wood or silver gray tanganika. Playing with scale and space, Maison Martin Margiela is ideal for the eclectic home.
