Music Musings: A Punk-Inspired Playlist for The Met Gala 2013
Pop music's reigning Queen Bey may be the honorary chair at this evening's annual Costume Institute Ball, but this year, it's all about punk. The 1970s subculture that represented anti-establisment, individuality, and free reign was the sole star at New York's annual Met Gala in celebration of the corresponding museum's Punk: Chaos to Couture exhibit. We at GLAM have gotten into the spirit by wearing our best punk-inspired looks (read: studs, vintage tees, and lots of hardware), but we're not stopping at our closets; #METMonday is being fêted on our music players, too. No, not everything on this list fits the punk rock genre to the letter, but the attitude, swagger, and style that the likes of Rihanna, A$AP Rocky, and even Beyoncé have exhibited are worthy enough to get us in a rebellious state of mind.
