#NYFW Get the Look: Dennis Basso Fall 2012
Dennis Basso took his models on a glamorous trip on the Orient-Express for his Fall/Winter 2012 collection. He made sure globetrotting fashionistas were packed and ready to go with his new luggage and looked lovely no matter how chilly the climate in a sumptuous array of furs.
A bright shade of orange that he called cayenne made a splash in the collection and also served as to the focal point for the models’ beauty look. “It’s a very elegant, classic look; it’s not heavy even though we’re using a lot of makeup,” said head makeup artist Kabuki. “There’s this modern kind of a trend, it’s this bright orange lip. It’s got this modern kick to it.”
Sephora PRO Beauty Team’s Gilbert Soliz assisted and filled us in on how to get that classic glamour-girl-on-the-go look. He created a clear palette on the face, hiding flaws with the Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer Kit and creating an even tone with the Make Up For Ever 5 Camouflage Cream Palette #2. He then set the makeup with Laura Mercier’s Loose Setting Powder in Translucent.
Kabuki designed a subtle smoky eye with Urban Decay’s Naked2 Palette Eye Shadows in Tease and Blackout by blending from mid-lid to the crease. He lined the eyes with the 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Bourbon and illuminated the eyes with the Tarte EmphasEyes Inner Rim Brightener. For the lush lashes, he used the Dior Diorshow Mascara in Black before adding the Sephora Collection False Lashes in Wispy.
He added the final contemporary touch to the look by applying Make Up For Ever Rouge Artist Intense Lipstick in #40. This striking lip look will get any girl noticed easily whether she’s taking an international flight or keeping things more local this fall.
