#NYFW Wes Gordon Enchants at the St. Regis

Stepping into the St. Regis Thursday afternoon felt positively other-worldly as young designer Wes Gordon presented his Fall 2011 collection. Girls dressed in herringbone cigarette pants, velvet column gowns and a red satin smoking jacket looked both relaxed and regal. Pianist Niia played live while we spoke with Gordon about his favorite collection to date.

What was the thought behind the collection?
It started off with the idea of a cool Parisian girl. Very 1970s Catherine Deneuve. And then we updated the look to make it a bit more modern and relevant to today’s girl.

What are your favorite Paris haunts?
I haven’t been in ages, but there are so many great spots. I love Ladurée, of course. So amazing. And Saint Chappelle for its stained glass.

Do you have any free time to let your hair down?
I’m going to Miami next week for a little weekend of sun and relaxation. I’m definitely looking forward to that. And then it’s off to a boot camp of trunk shows.

You’re an Atlanta native, do you get to go back often?
We actually have two trunk shows there. So I can’t wait to go home and see my dog!
