With a slew of sprays and stylers infused with his signature scent, it seems like it was only a matter of time before Oribe made the jump from the salon chair to the fragrance counter.
“Fragrance was never intentional in hair care. It was technically a generic second thought.” Daniel Kaner, cofounder and president of Oribe, told Women’s Wear Daily. But once the luxe hair care line launched in 2008, the addictive scent took center stage. “The fragrance is probably the top performer of the products themselves,” said cofounder and president Tev Finger. “I hear more about the fragrance almost more than everything else. It totally caught me by surprise.”
Now after years of wishful thinking, the brand has finally bottled the scent mane mavens and their stylists adore. “I always felt that fragrance was a major ingredient that was missing in luxury haircare,” said Oribe Canales, cofounder of Oribe. “Scent is such an important aspect of who we are and how we respond to things.” Called Côte d’Azur, the citrus floral unisex scent starts fresh with notes of lemon, black currant, Calabrian bergamot, and Sicilian orange with a heart of tuberose, blue cyclamen, and white butterfly jasmine. Sandalwood, vetiver, and crisp amber tie the already iconic fragrance together. The scent for the hair care line was originally inspired byJennifer Lopez, who Oribe prepped for her musical debut in 1999, pulling notes from the perfume she sported during the shoot.
But that’s not all the stylist has up his sleeve, as he has another scent that’s ready to hit salon shelves this September. Silver Pearl offers a green and clean spin with notes of bergamot, green fig, and fresh mint on top; mid-notes of geranium, lavender, bamboo accord and waterlily; and a rich base of black amber, dewy violet, and leather accord.
Ahh! The scent of hair bliss is here!
