Oscars 2014: Haute Hair Predications for the Best Supporting Actress Nominees
The competition is stiff amongst the nominees for Best Supporting Actress, as breakthrough actress Lupita Nyong’o will be up against last year’s winner, Jennifer Lawrence. The pair face Academy veterans like Julia Roberts and Sally Hawkins with June Squibb serving as the category’s dark horse. So there’s no doubt each lady will put her best face and hair forward for the chance at Oscar gold. For one of the Oscar’s hottest races we not only turned to SalonCapri’s Nicholas Penna Jr., but also Rihanna’s go-to gal, Ursula Stephen for their insight into what hairdos the nominees should rock on the red carpet:
US: Sally should wear an up do- with a good mix of structure and softness. A good old bouffant. I want to see her pulled all the way together for this red carpet. Nothing playful. A teasing comb, hair spray and pins-that's it.
NP: I’d love to see her add some length to her hair. She has striking features, so I’d deepen her color to a rich brown with a few soft layers in front, add a slight wave to the overall length and finish with the L’Oréal Professionel Perfect Shimmer Shine Illuminating Mist. Simple, so her features shine!
US: I want to do her hair! She should get funky with her cut. Take it up and off her face. The cut is great, but I don't feel like it's been styled to fit he personality. She needs an effortless looking hairstyle.
NP: One of my favorite looks on Jennifer was her long, sexy blonde hair at the 2011 Oscars. Since Jennifer has cut her hair into a short style in recent months, I’d like to see her show up to the Oscars with a new, edgier look, which she can do by experimenting with texture. I’d use a rough molding pomade to add texture, body and a bit of fierceness to her choppy layers.
US: Julia Roberts the women with the most beautiful hair. No updo for Julia! I want to see beautiful texture and length. And let's enhance that beautiful now blonde hair. Just beautiful Hollywood waves.
NP: Julia often wows us at award season with a classically beautiful up-do. This year I’m hoping she mixes it up a bit, leaves her long beautiful locks down to compliment her monochromatic style.
US: I think it time for a new shape. Everything so far has been “hard” lines and it's been great. Now it's time for some softer lines and “rounder” shapes. She just needs a few extensions that match her texture, some hairpins and Motions Light Hold Working Spritz.
NP: No one can pull off the short and chic hair like Lupita can. But this year, I think she’ll surprise us all with something new. I’m thinking she’ll keep her sides short but add some slicked back length on top for height. I’d use the Shu Uemura Sheer Lacquer Finishing Spray to make it shine and lock in the style for whole night.
NP: I just love how June’s silver grey compliments her skin tone. I would keep the length and just add a few light, face framing layers throughout. I’d recommend using the Kérastase Mousse Bouffante Volumizing Mousse to give her shorter layers even more body.
