Party Report: A Sparkling Night for the Good of the Children
THE PARTY: New Yorkers for Children's 14th Annual Fall Gala
THE PLACE: Cipriani 42nd St
THE DEETS: When it comes to industries playing nicely together, none are quite as symbiotic as fashion and charity. As has become tradition, models, celebrities, and designers put on their black tie best for an evening of raising money and awareness all for the benefit of children in foster care.
Over dinner at Cipriani and a performance from Common, guests including Mayor Michael Bloomberg, Frederic Fekkai, Rebecca Minkoff, Hugh Jackman, Crystal Renn, Selita Ebanks, Hilary Rhoda, Gayle King, Nigel Barker, and Adam Lippes wined and dined before indulging in a live auction held by Sotheby's Jamie Niven. “I love what New Yorkers For Children does: it’s at the grassroots level, so it doesn’t throw out money here and there,” Jackman said. “It really looks out for the kids and what they need, in every way.”
While the evening was star studded and the gowns were magical, there's no question that revelers had one thing on mind – the youth in foster care. As a child who directly benefitted from NYC's aid, Ebanks is a regular supporter, but it's clear she's not the only one; this Fall Gala is a prime example of what makes New York so darn fabulous.
