THE PARTY: The Absoluly Martini Luly Yang Couture Fashion Showcase at the St. Regis SF
THE GUESTS: Seattle based designer Luly Yang; Dancers of the Smuin Ballet casually modeling Yang’s clothing during the cocktail reception (Guests also experienced a live performance by the ballerinas!).
THE PLACE: The stunning St. Regis Hotel in Downtown San Francisco
THE DEETS: Crisp spring martinis, chic cocktail attire clad guests, decadent hors d’oeuvres and a San Francisco backdrop set the scene for the showing of the Luly Yang Couture eveningwear and bridal gown collection at the St. Regis Hotel Thursday night. The hour long runway show featured dressed-up silk and organza designs with classically form-fitting silhouettes and carefully cut geometric shapes. Despite the intricateness of each look, Yang constructed her work in seamless fashion, managing to match the sleek city skyline outside with styles boasting clean lines and architectural structure. In fact, the collection was specifically inspired by the metropolitan landscape that acted as the background of the show thanks to the St. Regis’s floor to ceiling windows behind the catwalk. The juxtopoistion of the timelessly elegant looks being modeled down the runway amidst an ultra contemporary setting confirmed that Luly Yang’s clothes are for women of city nights past, present and future.
