Party Report: The Lunchbox Fund’s Fall Fete

THE PARTY: The Lunchbox Fund's Fall Fete

THE PLACE: Buddakan

THE FARE: Crispy Spring Rolls, Tuna Tartare, Dumplings, and plenty of Moët & Chandon

THE DEETS: A slew of fashionable foodies came together Wednesday night to celebrate the Lunchbox Fund and introduce it's new Feedie app; the first philanthropy app for foodies. Co-chaired by Liv Tyler, Maggie Gyllenhaal and Mario Batali, the star-studded event raised $300,000 to benefit underprivileged children in South Africa. A significant portion of the proceeds came from an art auction of works created for the evening by famed artists, including Chuck Close, Michael Stipe, Lou Reed, Alan Cumming, and more. From the bidding war that ended with Mike Mills from R.E.M's winning Close's original photograph to the $32,000 private dinner at Joaquin Phoenix's Los Angeles home featuring a custom menu by Batali, the evening's fundraising auction was as exciting as it was lucrative.
